ring 2

I have devoted a lot of prose the various pros and cons of being single on this blog. It is with hardly any chagrin that I am ushering that era to a possibly permanent end (barring unforeseen circumstances).

Shortly after Dutch and I hooked up in November last, we started discussing the possibility of marriage. It had a surreal quality to it, as if we were two kids playing house in a playground. Suddenly, though, the props changed from "tree house shack" to fumbling with a ring in the dark. I was very happy, since the mental tree bouse had been getting cramped and drafty, and I hadn't realized how ready for a change I was.

The crazy thing is how happy people have been for us. In the excitement of being in love and orbiting a tight circle with Dutch, I had vaguely forgotten about the rest of the world. One of the perk of my party was having the opportunity to announce the news to the world. I am still a bit bewildered by the growing implications, but it was so fantastic to see my guests' joy and excitement. It was like a big chorus saying, "relax, be happy, its all okay."

Yay for the mushy post and for the instant gratification of digital images and for the venerable institution of marriage!

I'd been wondering about the happy, contented tone of your recent posts and whether this Dutch guy had anything to do with that.

The very best of wishes to you both.

Camille, in answer to your question on my blog, I came by way of "as it happens." I really enjoyed sauntering around your picturesque blog!
