A Long Night

On Saturday, LuLu, Spike and I came down to stay with my in-laws on the Central Coast for Thanksgiving. Dutch has to work a few days this week, so he will join us Wednesday. So this is our third morning without him.  I miss him so much. The Saturday night was rocky because Spike was fussy and I caught what sleep I could in 45 minute intervals. LuLu slept in her Packn'Play, but she was unhappy. On Sunday night, LuLu flatly refused to stay in the Pack n' Play, so I let her stay up and eat pie with the cousins. She slept with Spike and I. On Monday night  she refused to eat dinner or take any liquid.  She was so tired that I put her down a little earlier and she went right to sleep.  When I came to bed, I noticed a "sick" smell and as I lay down, I put my hand in something cold and wet. When I turned on the light, I saw vomit on the bed.  My heroic sister-in-law and mother-in-law came to my rescue with a set of clean sheets and all their experience with sick kids.  On fresh sheets, we spent a relatively quiet night. I could not have survived this without their help, holding Spike so I could shower, watching LuLu so I could nurse Spike. I don't know how single moms do it!
The days have been full of fun- playing with the cousins, eating ice cream and watching lots of TV. Dutch, don't tarry!
