'fear knocked on the door, faith in god opened it, and no one was there' seen on the pedestal of the wooden bear statue on Coolidge Corner, in Felton. I have spent most of my life living in small towns...
My favorite motto in Felton, however, is the one hanging on the outside of The White Raven, one of the ubiquitous San Lorenzo New Age coffeeshops: 'The Best Little Pourhouse in Felton.'
Oh, the joys of mobile blogging. I wrote that while we were stranded in Felton. Initially, it really depressed me (the local mechanic wouldn't be able to help us out for another three days, I couldn't find my old mechanics number, getting the car jumped didn't help at all, we had no other choice than to call the insurance and get it towed to another garage). But then, I thought about it and it seemed that the "faith in God" part was crucial in that it opened the door to reveal that there was nothing to be afraid of in the first place-- it didn't reveal that there was no God-- which is how I first read it.

What on earth does it mean?
Oh, I guess it's another way of saying "The only thing to fear is fear itself."
I thought it was some cryptic atheist mantra...
We don't have mantras like that.

No, the more I look at it, the more I'm sure it's an atheist motto...

I got it first pop. I guess being a scaredy cat from way back help me identify the antidotes!
